Why Rescue A Dog or better yet Why Not Rescue a Dog. When you take love from your heart and go out and rescue a dog instead of buying one off the Internet or from a Pet Store you do two things

1. You Save the life of the dog you rescued!

2. You save the life of a second dog who has the luck to be able to take the place of the dog you saved!

So you see by giving of your heart and saving a dog which soon will be the companion you always wanted in most cases. You have done two good deeds that you can feel very proud of. So that is why rescue a dog!

Myself I rescued in July 2010 a Bichon Frise her story was she was a breeding dog in a puppy mill in Missouri. At the time of my getting her she was 5 years and 10 months old. She had no front teeth on the upper and lower front of her mouth. She lost those due to biting on the cage for years trying so hard to escape a trap she never would till the day came they no longer wanted her anymore and would kill her. The name that she was given at the puppy mill was Gracie. I soon changed that to Buttons. She did not even know her name anyway and she was way too cute for such a outdated old name. She was cute as a button and with all of her white hair her button eyes and nose simply stood out on her cute face there simply was no other name so fitting as Buttons!
She soon became the reason why rescue a dog meant so much to me. This is how Buttons looked the first day we got her.

The reason I decided to rescue a dog was you see my Dog who was 8 years old died in July from a terrible accident and out of respect to her I wanted to save a life of a deserving dog in honor of my beloved Holly. She was a Bichonpoo. Best dog I ever had in my life till Buttons came along. Now Buttons will never be a dog like Holly no dog could be and I will never forget Holly or love her any less as time goes by but each day Buttons proves to me she deserved a chance to once and for all have a good life and a forever home.
I truly love Buttons very much!

Till you rescue a dog yourself you never will ever know how good it feels to do that. Another good reason to why rescue a dog is... It gives you such a feeling deep down inside knowing that if you did not care enough to take the effort to rescue a dog from a miserable situation they were in and once and for all show them just how good life can be they may live their whole life never knowing just how good life can be or be killed at a very young age like Buttons would have been if she had not been rescued!

This website is dedicated to all of the Dogs out there that simply want and deserve a forever home. We also hope we can show you simply Why rescue a Dog is a great thing to do. We hope to explain Why rescue a dog is something that only you can do for the right dog. What we mean by that is many dogs have been badly mistreated like my Buttons was. When I got her she weighed just 7 pounds. She was very small. She was afraid of everyone and just about everything. She acted like she had been beaten many times and probably put in a cage with a very aggressive dog who would not let her eat much. She has come a long way since that day we first met. She now shows love back to me ten fold. She is so happy to get up each day and she tries very hard to please me in many ways. She feels safe for the first time in many years. She even is not so afraid when a stranger to her comes to visit. She loves kids and loves to sit on their laps and let them pet and play with her. She gives my mother who is 88 years young great company when I am gone for the day or just shopping. In other words she is a much different dog than she was a little over a year ago. She is a part of our lives
and will be forever and a day from now on.

Sure we have had our problems with her, like house breaking but that is not a problem today. She cried daily when in January 2011 I had to fly to Arizona for 9 days due to a death in my family. She cried till she was so worn out she would finally go to sleep then start in again when she woke up till the day I came home. I never will forget the startled look on her face when I first came home she just stood there like she had seen a ghost, I know she had completely given up on ever seeing me again. When I finally said Buttons Mommy is home she went crazy.

You see after I got her and was able to finally catch her and hugged her and showed her love she has not left my side since and adores me way more than is healthy it seems. I had not tried to break this back then as I was always home and wanted her to have plenty of time to adapt more before we worked on that. After I was gone so long and saw how hurt she was I knew I did the wrong thing back then. I know better now. I know she needed training even back then.
This is how Buttons looks today a very healthy happy little love to have!

I feel today Why rescue a dog unless you can give them a better life and that includes showing them how a proper dog should act and behave. Training is very important part of that and the best thing you can do is start them with a training program and teach them things that like my Buttons she never knew anything about as she spent her whole life just having one litter after another till her body was so wore out from that, the puppy mill no longer had any use for her and were going to kill her till the organization came in that I got her from and talked them out of doing that not just to her but to others too. I think they were able to rescue 8 to 10 dogs maybe more that day. Please go to our blog To learn over 50 tricks you can teach your new rescue dog
